Happy Mother's Day

I recently read Motherhood defined as "the calling to nurture life." This is far and away the best definition I've ever seen because it is able to capture so much in so few words.

Motherhood is the role we as women are called to by God. Not a job that we can prepare for, but a holy mission that we complete by divine strength alone. The mission to nurture life. Life that grows inside us as women and life that exists around us. I see many women who have no physical child of their own, but veraciously and faithfully shape and water life around them. Women who get up day after day with only a handful of hours of sleep under their belt (or none at all) and nurture little souls by changing diapers and filling bottles. The word motherhood carries so much joy with it: of new life brought into the world, memories of your own life being carefully and lovingly cared for, and watching the lives of others we pour ourselves into bloom and grow. But, it also can carry heavy heartache too. Arms left empty and a heart filled with wanting, scars left because one called mother stepped away from their calling, and work done with no visible reward. I hope any sweet ladies hurting, rejoicing or just feeling on this Mother's Day would be encouraged. In some way, we as women all step into the calling of motherhood, and no matter how untraditional it may look, it should be celebrated, valued and praised. To mothers of all kind, I am thankful for YOU and how you fulfill this calling. I pray many women find peace on this holiday knowing they are not waiting for things in vain, but being used and shaped for greater things than could be imagined. So mama, Happy Mothers Day ❣️
